About Our School For Troubled Youth in Texas
Founded in 2004, by former NFL player Scott McGarrahan, Resolution Ranch Academy is a therapeutic boarding school that helps troubled teenagers get back on track toward a brighter future. For an average of six to nine months, students ages 13 to 17 live on our campus in Cameron, Texas. Ours is a positive, nurturing environment focused on guiding personal growth through responsibility, gratitude and open communication.
Our ranch mission is to help troubled teen boys modify self-destructive behavior while realizing they can succeed in life, even if they’ve failed in the past. Our unique therapeutic ranch program’s teachers, support staff, and therapists work hard to help them learn new skills in communication and self-management. The milieu of therapy experienced on this boys ranch includes academics, art therapy, equine therapy, and traditional therapy, plus the boys will explore their talents and discover new interests, all designed to enhance their self-worth and spark excitement for their future.

Equine Therapy for Troubled Boys
There are many schools for troubled youth in Texas, but many of them don’t offer equine therapy to their students. Resolution offers an equine (animal-assisted therapy) program that is specially designed for the growth and development of adolescent trials and adversities. The equine program is structured around a fully operating on-site facility with safety and responsibility as core aspects. Non-verbal communication is a valuable tool that equines provide in recognizing various forms of communication, utilizing resources for positive and productive results, and temper management.
The equine therapy program has provided individual therapeutic progress by allowing individuals to recognize attitudes and demeanor around adverse and developmental experiences. Our Equine Therapy program is made up of two components: Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL).
